About Us
Philosophy
Osaka Seikei University’s educational philosophy derives from a Chinese proverb recorded by Sima Qian in the ancient Records of the Grand Historian. The proverb states, “Peaches and plums don’t speak, but people gather beneath them, drawn by their flowers and fruits. In time, a path to the trees emerges.” Interpreting this allegory, we say that someone with integrity will draw others who admire their virtue.
Our name, Seikei, literally means “The path emerges.” Our educational goals based on this philosophy are to assist students to become globally competent human resources.

History
Osaka Seikei University is a four-year university established as part of the Osaka Seikei Gakuen educational institution. Osaka Seikei Gakuen was founded in 1933 and has five affiliated institutes: Osaka Seikei University, Biwako Seikei Sports College, Osaka Seikei College, Osaka Seikei Girls’ High School, and Komichi Kindergarten. The university comprises six faculties: Faculty of Management, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Global Tourism and Management, Faculty of Data Science, and Faculty of Nursing Science.

- Seikei Girls’ Secondary School founded.
- 1951
- Osaka Seikei Women’s College founded (Faculty of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Home Economics).
- 1952
- Osaka Seikei Gakuen Komichi Kindergarten founded.
- 1953
- Faculty of Childcare established at Osaka Seikei Women’s College.
- 1956
- Faculty of Primary Education established at Osaka Seikei Women’s College.
- 1967
- Faculty of Tourism established at Osaka Seikei Women’s College.
- 2003
- Osaka Seikei University founded (Faculty of Modern Information Management, Faculty of Arts).
Biwako Seikei Sport College founded.
Osaka Seikei Women’s College becomes co-ed and changes name to Osaka Seikei College. - 2012
- Graduate school established at Biwako Seikei Sport College.
- 2014
- Faculty of Education established at Osaka Seikei University.
- 2016
- At Osaka Seikei College, existing courses each reorganized into Faculty of Nutrition, Faculty of Cookery and Confectionery, and Faculty of Apparel Design.
- 2018
- Graduate school established at Osaka Seikei University.
- 2020
- Faculty of Management established at Osaka Seikei University.

- Faculty of Global Tourism and Management established at Osaka Seikei University.
